Lamentations 3:12-14   "He has bent His bow and set me up as a target for the arrow. He has caused the arrows of His quiver to pierce my loins. I have become the ridicule of all my people-- their taunting song all the day.  (NKJ)

This site is dedicated to bluntly dealing with the issues within the churches of Christ

Editor: Bobby G. Goodman Jr.

It is my prayer that we all be like Christ, "Then they asked Him, saying, "Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth:" Luke 20:21

Editor's Desk

The Bull's Eye Newsletter is dedicated to discussion of the issues within the churches of Christ especially in the San Joaquin Valley of California. The first editions will discuss matters concerning the "Gentile Law," a relatively new manmade creed originating with some who are associated with the churches of Christ.

About the newsletter name, Bull's Eye: It was evident that Gospel Preachers have become targets for these false teachers, so I am giving them a clear target to shoot at.

Another web site is now online, Bible 27.  This site is an informational site by design.   It contains Bible timelines, study outlines, subject studies, and question and answer pages.  Take a look, you might find it useful.

About Secrecy and Revelation

True worshippers of Jesus have nothing to fear from facts being revealed. Secrecy and deception is the friend of evil; Disclosure and honesty is the friend of righteousness. "For there is nothing hidden which will not be revealed, nor has anything been kept secret but that it should come to light." Mark 4:22 This is reflected in the command Jesus gave to the churches:

"Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple." Romans 16:17-18

The word translated "note" or "mark" is Strong's number 4648 (skopeo). Spiros Zodhiates' Word Study defines its meaning as "to spy out, look towards an object, to contemplate, give attention to..."

In the "spying" business, the job is not to "spy" out the personal lives of our country's enemies but rather to analyze available information, to piece together known facts which would reveal secrets. You would be surprised what a little factual information reveals to those with the heart and mind to accept it. Jesus revealed this principle to his disciples when he said,

"For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush. A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks." Luke 6:43-45

Our actions and words reveal the secrets of our hearts including loyalties, beliefs, and character. So by a person's actions and words we can discover their mind and heart. Jesus fully expects and demands that we take note of actions and make decisions about fellowship and the character of individuals. "But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner-- not even to eat with such a person. For what have I to do with judging those also who are outside? Do you not judge those who are inside? But those who are outside God judges. Therefore "put away from yourselves the evil person." 1 Cor 5:11-13

Jesus also spoke of those who refuse to consider what is observable: "For the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them." Matt 13:15

As much as can be revealed will be and that which remains God will reveal. "Some men's sins are clearly evident, preceding them to judgment, but those of some men follow later. Likewise, the good works of some are clearly evident, and those that are otherwise cannot be hidden." 1 Tim 5:24-25.

It is my prayer that the reader would become aware of the teaching, works, and behavior within the congregation, to observe, think & ask about  what is happening ; for as surely as Jesus is the head of the church, you are "a member thereof" and responsible for the church's conduct and welfare.
